The next school of astrostatistics will take place in 2015, Octobre 11-15 at Les Houches in France.

The topic will be clustering and classification.

The foreseen program is:

  • General Introduction to statistics (TBD)
  • Introduction to R (Didier Fraix-Burnet, IPAG)
  • Supervised and unsupervised classification by mixture models (Stéphane Girard, LJK / Inria)
  • Introduction to probabilistics graphical models with application to image processing and to spatial data (Florence Forbes, LJK / Inria)
  • Classification in high dimension : mixture models, the curse of dimensionality, sub-space methods and variable selection (Charles Bouveyron, Univ. Paris-Descartes)
  • Classification of variables (Jérôme Saracco, Univ. Bordeaux)
  • Classification and taxonomy. Phylogenetic classification (cladistics). (Didier Fraix-Burnet, IPAG)
  • Classification with Support Vector Machine approaches (Mathieu Fauve, ENSATl)
